Let me help you find joy and connection in your violin journey!

My wish is to foster a love of both violin playing and appreciation for music. You can contact me using the form below. I have been a member of Canada’s National Arts Centre Orchestra since 1997, and have been teaching regularly since 1995. My regular violin studio is normally full for weekly students (contact me to audition) but I also give coachings to young professionals preparing auditions, amateurs or help fellow teachers with feedback. At over 1,000 videos, I’ve created since 2020 one of YouTube’s biggest violin channels, YouTube I help violinists at all levels through short, actionable videos on my playlist #violinpracticetip, and hundreds of videos of etudes (from beginner through advanced), scales (yes, very useful especially for beginners), orchestral excerpts, and student repertoire among other content, all organized into over 60 playlists. I sometimes hold Free Zoom Masterclasses and presentations about teaching and learning music. If I have helped you with my videos and events, and you would like to support this work, please consider a contribution to my Ko-fi page Support page for YouTube

I started teaching as an assistant to the well-known pedagogue Mauricio Fuks, who was my main teacher from 1982-1989, both privately in high school and at McGill where I did my B.Mus. I completed my Master’s of Music at Indiana University, studying with Paul Biss and baroque performance practice with Stanley Ritchie. Since 1995 I have been teaching all ages and levels, but now I specialize more in the intermediate-advanced levels. I believe in working with each individual student to find the music they want to play, and to find the approach that will keep them motivated. I have regular masterclasses with my own students (in addition to my public masterclasses), over the internet as needed.
